Donnerstag, 7.6.2018, 17:00-18:30, SR 1 TB

It will then turn to Vedic and Brahmanical eschatological beliefs and rituals, and their archaeological record, to be followed by the presentation of the epigraphic, literary and archaeological evidence of Hindu “ancestors’ galleries” as well as of funerary and memorial temples. The lecture will conclude with the treatment of Rajput memorial pavilions (chattrī) and funerary stelae, and “hero-stones” and “sati-stones” relating to violent death.
