Old Tibetan Documents Online (OTDO) is an international research project which aims to construct a comprehensive database of selected old (VIIth to Xth centuries) Tibetan texts: manuscripts from Dunhuang and other Central Asian sites, inscriptions discovered in Tibet and adjacent areas, and other related materials. It is maintained by the Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa (ILCAA) of the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS) in collaboration with the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS).
Until now 63 of the most important and representative Tibetan manuscripts from Dunhuang have been critically edited. They are accessible on the website of the OTDO: (http://otdo.aa.tufs.ac.jp/) where the user will find provided also several powerful tools like a search program that finds all syllables appearing in the manuscripts and a KWIC (Key Words In Context) concordance. More materials will gradually be included and the tools will be improved and diversified. The lecture presents the current state of the database and demonstrates the performance of the KWIC concordance.
