The Mahāmayūrīvidyārajñī and the Sitātapatrādhāraṇī draw on a common stock of elements, including a long list of disease-causing demons. On the basis of this list we may discuss several questions, such as "how was this demon supposed to cause disease?" and "what did Buddhism offer as an antidote?".
