Tashi Bhutia is a University Assistant predoc in Tibetan Studies at the University of Vienna, contributing to research within the EurAsian Transformations cluster. His primary research interests encompass Buddhist life-stories (rnam thar), religious histories (chos ‘byung), and philosophical scriptures, with a particular emphasis on the 15th to 17th centuries in Tibet. He is also keenly interested in translation and interdisciplinary perspectives within these domains. His dissertation examines the life and contributions of Chos grags gya tsho (1454–1506), the VII Karma pa, a pivotal bKa’ brgyud yogic scholar of 15th century Tibet.
Tashi studied Religious Studies (MA, McGill University, 2024), Buddhist Studies (BA, Mewar University/KIBI, 2018), and traditional Buddhist studies (bKa’ rabs ’byams pa, Diwakar Buddhist Academy, 2010)
