The Sakalapramāṇatātparyam is a minor rahasyagrantha in Manipravalam by Periyavāccāṉ Piḷḷai, an eminent 13th-century Śrīvaiṣṇava scholar. While showing that the sole object of knowledge for the liberation-seeker is God, Piḷḷai deals with the different items of the soteriological arthapañcaka (‘five topics’) list. And in the process, he defines the key concepts of Viśiṣṭādvaita in the most systematic way, which most probably influenced the later Yatīndramatadīpikā by Śrīnivāsadāsa. In this informal talk, I’ll bring out to the attention of the audience some of the interesting features of the Sakalapramāṇatātparyam, including how it formulates ideas that are later considered as belonging to the Teṉkalai school of Śrīvaiṣṇavism.
