Purpose: To further and develop, on a sound philological basis and from a diachronic as well as synchronic perspective, the study of South Asian cultural traditions, especially those transmitted in Sanskrit. The second part of the journal ('Archiv für indische Philosophie') is devoted to articles on the history of Indian philosophies.
